The 2024-25 StormBreakers

FIRST Robotics at Skyview High School has become so popular that we now support two teams under the umbrella of Skyview Robotics: the original team, The StormBots, FRC 2811, and our new team, The StormBreakers, FRC 9567. The StormBreakers consist of rookies — freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who have never been in a robotics program before. We are organized into two subteams: Build and Programming. We combine forces with the StormBots to work on other subteams like Business Development, Competitions, Wingnuts, and Stockpile which support both teams

The focus of the StormBreakers is to help new students develop the necessary skills to design, fabricate, program, and control their own robot creations. The StormBreakers are led by the three teacher coaches of the Skyview Robotics Program with the help of several mentors. A fundamental principle of the StormBreakers is that students develop all our products meaning that everything from robot fabrication to website design will be done by StormBreaker students. At competition events only students will be permitted to drive the robot and work in the pit.

The StormBreakers shares the annual fundraising events with the StormBots and we also participate in  community outreach events set up by the Business Development subteam. Outreach activities allow our teams to support and promote the mission of FIRST by encouraging youth in our community to think about getting involved with STEM and prepare for various STEM careers through hands-on learning activities.

Skyview High School is a STEM magnet school. The mission of FIRST Robotics aligns well with Skyview’s mission. This means StormBreakers enjoy the enthusiastic support of our school’s teachers, administrators, and student body. We are looking forward to a terrific experience in STEM through FIRST Robotics!
